Tour de Waterlooville

Always ready for a new challenge, and not resting even in their last term at St Peter’s, Year 6 pupils this week have been taking part in the Bikeability course (what used to be known as Cycling Proficiency!).

After basic bike safety teaching, and skills development on the playground, the pupils went out on the open road with the Hampshire County Council instructions to put themselves to the test on safe and sensible road cycling.
Well done to all the children involved.

Tag Triumph!

Congratulations to our Tag Rugby players at St Peter’s who took first and second place at this week’s Havant Area Tag Rugby Tournament at Oaklands.  Thanks go to our rugby coach Mr Crozier, and to Mrs Wibberley who accompanied the teams to the tournament.  Well, with an Irish Head Coach and a South African Assistant Coach, St Peter’s rugby teams are bound to do well!

Well done Year 6 and Year 2

Well done to all of the pupils in Year 6 who this week have completed their Standard Assessment Tests (SATs).  The girls and boys have worked incredibly hard this year, being as well prepared as possible for the tests.  We know, however, that the worth of a child and the value of a school is so much greater than anything that can be captured in a test score.  The SATs in Year 2 take a different format at the end of Key Stage 1, and remain ongoing.  My thanks must go to colleagues throughout the school who themselves work so hard to prepare pupils for both the tests and the full curriculum, keeping children calm and confident as they meet various challenges.

A floral coronation

With a perfect sense of timing, a crown of golden tulips has bloomed at St Peter’s to welcome the Coronation of King Charles III.

In school on Friday, pupils took part in a range of learning activities related to the Coronation, with many producing items to take home to add to the celebrations over the long weekend.

And of course, in keeping with St Peter’s tradition, Mrs Carter-Hall baked some crown themed colour coordinated biscuits for all the pupils in the school.
