Online remote learning week 6
Hello,
Here is a copy of the online learning for this week. Please note Friday is a whole school INSET day therefore we have not set any home learning for this day. There will also be no online Teams meetings at all for this day.
For more information and resources please make sure you log into Tapestry.
Monday is internet safety day so there is an additional learning oppourtunity planned by our IT lead, Miss Foote, that your child can engage with to teach them how to be safe on the internet.

Chinese New Year activities
Friday 12th February is Chinese New Year. It is the same day as our whole school INSET day so if you would like to teach your child a little bit about it then you could do so on the Friday if not it could be something you do on Thursday 11th as part of your home teaching.
We have attached a PowerPoint giving some information about how it’s celebrated. Here is a video link to watch and listen to understand the events of Chinese New Year.
We have also attached a few ideas for activities to do with your child after you have read the information together. You may like to make some paper lanterns or create your own Chinese dragon. You may even like to try some Chinese food together that your child hasn’t tried before. This should be a fun experience learning about a different culture.
We shall look forward to seeing some photos of your learning on Tapestry.

Christmas fun!
This week in maths we have been focusing on shape. The children have enjoyed cutting shapes to create snowmen, presents and angels.
They have also been playing ICT games to complete shape patterns.
Here are some photos from their learning:
In phonics the children have been applying the sounds they have been taught so far in phase 2 and 3 to write sentences. Here are some photos of their learning:
The children have also enjoyed taking part in lots of Christmas craft activities. Here are some photos of their learning:
The children had a great time watching the Pantomime. Here are some photos of the fun:
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break. Best wishes for the new year.

Christmas fun
The children have really enjoyed listening to the Snow Bear story. The children re told the story through pictures and wrote sentences to help the bear to find his way back home to his mum. They also had a visit from a reindeer overnight which they found such fun watching back.
Here are some examples of their great work:
In maths we have been learning all about repeating patterns. The children really enjoyed creating their own in different ways. Here are some examples of their learning:
In RE the children learnt all about the meaning of Advent and how we celebrate it. They chose to create their own candles during discovery time. Here are some photos of their creations:
The children also had a visit from a drama teacher who engaged them in some imaginative activities about fairy tales. The children really enjoyed following her lead. Here are some photos from the fun they had:

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Advent has begun
This week we have really enjoyed practising and performing our nativity. All the the children have worked so hard on remembering their speaking parts, the actions to the songs and acting on the stage. They all looked fabulous in their costumes too. Huge well done to all the children and their families too for their support in preparing for this. Here are some photos of the stars of the show:
We also had a visit from the Elf this week. The children were so excited to find a box left in our classroom with the elf hiding in it and a note from Santa. The children all enjoyed writing a list to give to the elf to pass on to Santa.
Here are some examples of their fantastic writing:
In maths the children have been busy finding one less and adding different amounts independently during discovery time. Here are some photos of their learning:
In phonics the children have been writing captions for photos using the sounds that they are familiar with in phase 2.
Here are some photos of the learning they are most proud of this week:
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

A surprise visit from the Elf!
This week the children came into school to see the Elf had been in our school overnight and had taken pictures of himself.
The children were very excited by this and were very keen to write to him to ask him to come back again!
Here are some examples of their fantastic writing:
During Maths the children have been making amounts to 5 in different ways. The children used Numicon, multi link, gems and bricks to show how they can partition the amount and use mathematical vocabulary to explain what they had found out.
Here are some photos of their learning:
The children have continued to independently practise writing CVC words during discovery time, applying the sounds they have been taught so far.
Here are some photos of their brilliant writing:
We hope you have a great weekend.

The Snowflake Mistake
This week we have read the story The Snowflake Mistake. The children have enjoyed designing and labelling a new machine for the queen as well as having a go at making it out of junk modelling. They also made their own snowflakes using different craft materials and then talked about how they created them.
In maths we have focused on making different amounts, matching to the correct numeral and discussed one less than a given number.
Some of the children showed this with snowballs (cotton wool) and paper snowflakes. Some children counted the amount, crossed one off and talked about how it shows one less and what the amount is.
In phonics the children have been independently writing CVC words showing they can apply the sounds we have taught so far to spelling. Some children have also been writing tricky words during discovery time.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
