Home learning
Dear all
Here is this half terms home learning . We hope you enjoy exploring our new topic with your children at home.
The early years team.
Seeds galore!
Hello again !
This week we have been doing lots of planting of seeds. We have been planting sunflowers in pots and also bean seeds in plastic bags so that we can watch them as the roots and shoots grow. We have also been doing lots of mark making inside and out and lots of the children are choosing to write in their new’discovery books’ which is great to see. If your child shows an interest it would be great to encourage them to write at home. Perhaps they can write your shopping list or write a card for a family member. Some of the children have been using our sequencing input to write about what we did when we planted the seeds. If your child does any writing they want to show please add to tapestry or ask them to come in and show us!
Watch this space for news of a trip on 29th June…
Many thanks

New topic!
Welcome back to school from the reception team! We hope that you have all managed to have a good rest and that the children are raring to learn!
This half term we are focusing on our new theme of ‘Growing’. We will be reading lots of fiction and non-fiction books, planting lots of seeds and hopefully tasting some of the results! This week we have talked about what we know about how plants grow and will be building on this knowledge throughout the weeks.
If there is anyone out there with knowledge and expertise/work in this area we would love to hear from you particularly if you were able to come and talk to the children about what you do.
Thank you for all your support.

Easter activities!
We have spent the day today doing a carousel of activities for Easter. We wrote Easter cards, made the covers, made Easter baskets and made Easter biscuits! They were delicious! We also had a really interesting assembly from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance. The children listened so well and were really engaged with what they had to tell us about how to use the ambulance service in and emergency. Good listening!
We wish you all a really lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing you all rested and ready for learning when you return!
The chicks have arrived!!
There was great excitement today when our eggs arrived at school. They are in an incubator at the moment but will very soon begin to hatch into chicks when we will put them into a large cage so that we can watch them . We are looking forward to seeing them and being able to have a cuddle! Look out for more pictures and news next week!
Lent in Year R
We have learned a new song in Year R all about what Lent is. It is as follows, and is to the tune of Frère Jacques, if you would like to practise at home.
Prayer, fasting and almsgiving
We are meant, to repent
40 days of sacrifice
Being super, extra nice
This is Lent, this is Lent
I have also attached a Lenten prayer for you to share at home with your child. (click the link below)
Please don’t forget to collect your puzzle piece if you attend mass this week.
Have a great weekend,
The Early Years Team
Vet visit!
We were incredibly lucky to have Miss Hopkins, the vet, to visit us this week. She talked to us all about how to check if an animal is healthy and how to use bandages and plasters. Thank you for your support as parents and sending us in you children’s toys.
Ask them about their favourite part of the day!
Welcome Back!
We hope that you had a great Christmas and that the children are well-rested. They have come back ready to learn, settled, and full of enthusiasm which is lovely to see.
We are kicking off a topic on Superheroes and a new home learning pyramid has been put in your child’s bag. A copy is below in case it gets lost.
Happy home learning!
