Lent in Year R

We have learned a new song in Year R all about what Lent is. It is as follows, and is to the tune of Frère Jacques, if you would like to practise at home.

Prayer, fasting and almsgiving

We are meant, to repent

40 days of sacrifice

Being super, extra nice

This is Lent, this is Lent

I have also attached a Lenten prayer for you to share at home with your child. (click the link below)

Please don’t forget to collect your puzzle piece if you attend mass this week.

This week…

We’ve got a big week planned with a visit from a nurse, a police officer and a trip to Pizza Express on the horizon!

Ask your child all about it when they get home.

How have the number walks been going?

Have a great week,

Year R team

Vet visit!

We were incredibly lucky to have Miss Hopkins, the vet, to visit us this week. She talked to us all about how to check if an animal is healthy and how to use bandages and plasters. Thank you for your support as parents and sending us in you children’s toys.

Ask them about their favourite part of the day!

Welcome Back!

We hope that you had a great Christmas and that the children are well-rested. They have come back ready to learn, settled, and full of enthusiasm which is lovely to see.

We are kicking off a topic on Superheroes and a new home learning pyramid has been put in your child’s bag. A copy is below in case it gets lost.

Mile for Maisie

I was incredibly proud of our children, not only for their stamina with running but also for their generosity. As a year group, reception raised £59.12 for the Hampshire air ambulance, and put all of their might into doing laps of the playground in Fridays’s dull weather.

Well dome, Year R!

Advent

Dear Parents,

We are preparing for Christmas in YR and are busily getting ready for the nativity. We are also walking to Sacred Heart for the first time this week. Please ask your children about all of these experiences. Also,  thank you to all who volunteered and came to Staunton with us on Monday!

What a week!

We have had an incredible week at school! We went to pets at home, had visits from some amazing dogs and are preparing for our trip to Staunton!

We have a special mention from Mrs White this week to say that the children have been really working hard to take care of our outside area this week, sweeping and collecting leaves. Well done!

Here’s our final week of nativity preparations and a successful trip tomorrow. Wrap up warm!

We we have had a fabulous time at pets at home. It was great for us to practice our road safety and behaviour in public before we go to Staunton next week. Ask your child what they did at pets at home!

New Home Learning

Below you will find a link to a PDF version of our new home learning pyramid. Please choose activities to do with your child as and when. You can either record these in the home learning adventure book they were given today or on tapestry. Happy home learning!

Nearly Half Term

Thanks to all who attended the Welcome Meeting on Monday. We hope it has made a difference to your understanding of how to support your children with their learning at home.

There is only one more week until half term when your children get a well-deserved break!

Have a great weekend,
