We have just received this email from the farm who sadly couldn’t visit us today. Please share with your child and encourage them to draw a picture of an animal of their choice that they see and write a sentence about it and share it with us on Tapestry. 😊

Home learning from Friday 27th March
Good evening Seahorse and Starfish,
We hope you have had a good a week and have enjoyed your home learning activities! It has been lovely to see so many of you upload your learning to Tapestry. Mrs Conlon, Miss Deacon, Mrs Aquilina and Mrs King have all enjoyed logging on to find out what you have been up to. We have seen some lovely animal creations, from making your collages from stones, grass and flowers to drawing and painting your favourite animals. We have also seen children make cup phones and making repeating patterns when going out for a walk! Such great learning!

This week we are continuing to focus on animals. Here are a selection of activities to engage your children with across areas of the Early Years Curriculum. Please share any learning your children do on Tapestry.
Understanding the World –
Choose an animal you love. What you can find out about it? Does it come from an egg? Where does it live? How big is it? What does it need to be healthy?
Literacy –
Can you make poster or a booklet all about your favourite animal with the facts you have found out?
Expressive Arts and Design –
Can you make a collage of your favourite animal? Think about the texture of their skin/fur/feathers etc. What materials could you use that you find at home or outside?
Maths – Can you add two groups of animals to find the total number?
Self-confidence and awareness –
Can you get your grown up to record a video of you saying something you are good at and something you want to get better at? Please upload it to Tapestry.
Phonics home learning
Please ask your child which phonics group they are in and teach them the relevant sounds given.

Our chicks have hatched!
The children were very excited on Monday afternoon when the chick eggs arrived in school. They then came in on Tuesday morning to see one had hatched already! When they cam in on Wednesday five out of the six chicks had hatched and now we are just waiting on one more who has made a little crack in the egg so we are waiting patiently for its arrival.
Here are some of the photos of the children stroking one of the chicks.
The children have been hooked into writing about the chicks daily to explain what they have seen happen from when they came in up to when some of them have hatched. They have also been counting pretend eggs into nest and adding up the total in the tuff tray.
We are beginning to reinforce time language with the children by encouraging them to talk about what they did yesterday, today and what they are going to do tomorrow. Please ask your children what they did at school each evening to support this vocabulary.

World Book Day
The children had a fantastic day dressing up as a character from their favourite book and getting involved in lots of activities based around the books they love.
The children made their own Gruffalo crumble, potions from Room on the Broom, wrote their own books, re told stories as well as writing about their favourite book to share with a friend.
In the afternoon Year 1 joined us to share their favourite story with our Year R children.
