Hello Dolphins and Turtles
Thank you to all the children who have prepared such fantastic Home Learning to share in class. We have enjoyed seeing your commitment to learning.
This week we had a visit from the Big Bad Wolf! He answered lots of questions that we had written during our Literacy lessons. By the end of his visit he didn’t seem so bad after all…
In Numeracy next week we will be continuing to be finding fractions of quantities.
In Literacy we will be carrying on looking at traditional tales.
Remember to keep logging on to Abacus and Bug Club as new learning is often added.
Happy Learning!
Mrs Osborne, Mrs Knight and Miss Heaton
Hello Year 1
What a busy week we have had!

In Literacy we have been retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs. It has been so lovely to see such incredible story writing skills from all of Year 1.
In Numeracy, we have been counting in twos, drawing arrays and even using maths language such as ‘lots of’.
Next week we will carry on looking at the story of the Three Little Pigs and we will even write some questions for the Big Bad Wolf to answer!
In Numeracy next week we will be learning how to recognise halves and quarters.
Remember that you have some books to read on Bug Club and some Abacus home learning online too.
We hope you have a fantastic weekend, Dolphins and Turtles.
From Mrs Osborne, Mrs Knight and Miss Heaton
Hello Dophins and Turtles
We hope you have enjoyed being back at school. We have loved getting to know you all and are excited about this term’s learning!
We have kick started our topic about traditional tales by building a new home for the Three Little Pigs! Of course The Big Bad Wolf had to come and blow them down!
Next week we will continue looking at traditional tales and discover more about this cheeky character, the Big Bad Wolf!
We will also be thinking about different types of homes around the world. Please try and bring in a photo of the outside of your home this week to support our topic work.
In Numeracy will be developing our ability to count in 2’s. See if you can have a practise at home with your grown ups!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mrs Osborne, Mrs Knight, Miss Heaton

Goodbye From Mrs Allen
I would like to say a huge thank you for all the goodbye wishes and fabulous presents.
I have had the most fantastic experience at St Peter’s and the children I have taught have been amazing.
During the Christmas holidays, remember your child can access Bug Club and Abacus.
Have a lovely Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!
Hello!
We hope you all had a lovely relaxing weekend!
In Literacy we have been reading The Jolly Postman.
The children have enjoyed learning about the features of a story book and how this book is different to other story books.
Today we began writing our own version of The Jolly Postman. We began to write the beginning of the story and this week we will continue to write letters, posters, postcards as well as continuing with the story.
We have a busy week ahead of us!
In Numeracy the children enjoyed learning all about money.
We had a shop and post office in each of the classrooms and the children had the opportunity to be the shop keeper giving out change as well as being the customer.
Continue to read
with your child on a daily basis as well as Bug Club and Abacus.
Have a good week!
From the Year 1 Team
Hello From The Year 1 Team!
This week has been a busy week as we began our nativity
.
We are trying hard to remember all the words and songs in the nativity.
In literacy, we have been describing settings from the book ‘Journey’ and next week we will be writing
sentences that will include some of the adjectives.
In numeracy, we have been continuing adding
and exploring subtraction
. Next week we will be having fun learning and exploring money
. We will be buying items from our class shop and hopefully we will be able to find the correct mount of money and give the customers the correct change. Fingers crossed!
For Home Learning this week, please continue to learn the sounds and words of the week that are in the home learning diaries. We are hoping that you are all enjoying our topic on ‘Journeys’ and that you can bring some great home learning from the learning pyramid to share with your friends on Friday.
Remember Abacus and Bug Club
are also available to continue your reading and numeracy skills.
Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday!
From the Year 1 Team
Hello!
We are enjoying our learning in Year 1. ![]()
This week we began our new topic Journeys. We have been busy writing letters to a selected author about how we can help to write interesting sentences to his book that only has pictures. We found this very exciting!
In numeracy we have been exploring adding objects and numbers together and showing our number sentence on a number line. We find this quite tricky but we feel we are growing with confidence every time we use number lines.
We enjoyed our whole school liturgy and meeting Bishop Philip
on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the whole school attended Remembrance Service.
This was a time when we had the opportunity to remember all the soldiers who fought and died for our country. We continued our learning about Remembrance Day in the afternoon by making our own poppies, writing poems and making models.
Please continue to learn phase 3,4 and 5 sounds of letters and sounds. These can be found in the beginning of your home school diaries. Can you also read
daily with your child?
All children have new books on Bug Club and numeracy work on Abacus. Encourage your child to explore Bug Club and Abacus as much as possible. This is a fun way of continuing your child’s learning at home.
On Tuesday is our second parents evening. If you have not yet made an appointment with us, please come and ask for a time. We will look forward to seeing you then!
Have a lovely weekend from the Year 1 Team!
Another Fun Packed Week!
Hello!
We hope you all had a lovely and relaxed half term. ![]()
This week we have completed our stories
and soon there will be a copy in the library for all the children to read. Well Done Year 1!
We have enjoyed our learning in numeracy of more and less
and we are becoming more confident in finding the answer to written number problems.
We enjoyed creating firework pictures
using pastels and glitter.
For home learning this week, could you continue reading
your school reading books, Bug Club and Abacus.
As always, continue learning Phase 3,4 and 5 sounds of Letters and Sounds. These can be found at the beginning of the Home School Diary.
With it being Remembrance Day
on Wednesday, you might like to write some sentences about Remembrance Day or draw a picture.
Remember this is about having fun
whilst learning, so be as creative as you can.
The year 1 team are looking forward to welcoming our parents to parents evening on Monday. We hope to see you there so we can share your child’s fabulous learning.
On Tuesday we are very much looking forward to the Bishop
visiting St Peter’s and our Remembrance Mass
on Wednesday.
Thank you for your continued support!
Hello From The Year 1 Team!
We are having a great time in year 1!
We Are To Become Authors!
In year 1, we have been planning our own stories for the
school library. We have been thinking about what characters could be in our story and using adjectives to describe them. Next we are going to be planning our setting ready for when we write our story after the half term. We are all very excited about becoming authors!
In numeracy we have enjoyed learning about
fractions. We have been experimenting our fraction knowledge with halving and moving onto quarters.
Reading has been a blast! We have been reading with our teachers and friends and we are becoming more confident as the days and weeks go by. A big pat on the back to all of us in year 1!
Please remember to continue
home learning as we all enjoy listening and looking at the marvellous learning that you do at home.
Keep Up The Good Work!
From the Year 1 Team
