Santa Fun Run

Year 1 Nativity

Creative fun

During computing the children created designs in paint using different shapes to make a Christmas picture to go into their cards they are making in DT.

During history the children enjoyed looking at old toys and talking about how they are different to the toys we have now.

In Science the children explored the materials of different objects and sorted them into different categories.

During English the children talked about what they saw on our ‘night time ’ walk in the classroom. They discussed the animals they saw, where they were and what they were doing. This has begun our unit on the book Flashlight.

Exciting week in year 1!

The children enjoyed practically finding half of a shape during maths.

The children also spent time in Science sorting objects based on their properties.

During English we went outside to see Q Pootle had left us some objects from his spaceship. We then used adjectives to describe the objects.

Our learning for this week!

Shoe Box Appeal

Many children have put together shoe boxes with gifts in to send to other countries. They have written prayers to go in each box too during RE.

We have been exploring odd and even numbers in maths this week too.

The children have also been exploring drawing a picture on paint on the computers.

Year 1 Worship

The children gathered together to share a year group worship with their friends and families.

We shared the gospel story about Jesus Feeding the 5,000.

During each prayer a child will bought up a rose to the display as a sign of offering up a prayer to the Lord.

Money

In Maths we were learning that 10 1p coins is the same as 1 10p coin by playing the exchange game.

When the children were not working with an adult they were making amounts with 1p coins, making amounts with 10p coins to practise counting in 10s, paying for things in a shop.

The children also learnt how to use a mouse and keyboard. They drew a picture in paint learning how to click and drag the mouse as well as typing their names.
