Week 4 in Year 1
This week in English we have been exploring the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ The children have retold the stories through actions and written their own sentences focusing on capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and using their phonics to help them to spell words.

We have also been focusing on prepositions. The children created their own buildings out of blocks and used the figures to show the positioning for example under the bridge or over the bridge.

In maths the children have been ordering numbers up to 30 to create their own number lines their books.
In Geography we have been continuing to look at map work. We had a map of our school and identified the physical and human features that we have.
Week 3 in year 1
In geography the children explored using a compass. We talked about where North, South, East and West is in relation to our school. The children enjoyed watching the dial on their compass move as they navigated around the classroom.

In maths we have been exploring one more and one less than a given number. They then found the number on a number line and jumped forwards and backwards.

In computing we have been looking at what is technology and what is not. We discussed things around the classroom that we use and then organised some images on the board together.
Welcome to Year 1
The children have settled back into school so well after the summer break. They are really enjoying our topic All About Me. We have been looking at the book The Three Little Pigs in English and doing lots of writing tasks around it.
In maths we have been counting to 20 and finding one more than a given number.
In geography we have explored our school and identified human and physical features around.
