Year One

Beautiful Bears – Year 1’s Colour Mixing Creations! 🎨

Our talented Year 1 artists have been busy exploring the wonderful world of colour mixing!

The children began by experimenting with the three primary colours – red, yellow and blue – discovering how to mix them to create the secondary colours of orange, green and purple.

They then explored how to mix different shades of brown, adding white to create lighter tints and black to make darker shades. Using their newly discovered colour mixing skills, the children carefully painted their very own bears, inspired by the much-loved character Old Bear from the stories by Jane Hissey.

This activity helped the children develop their painting techniques, understand colour mixing and gain confidence in experimenting with paint.

We are so proud of their beautiful bears and the fantastic range of colours they created!

Take a look at a selection of their wonderful artwork below!
