Rousing Residential

A wonderful week has been had by all year 5 pupils on our residential trip to The Sustainability Centre. The children were exceptionally well-behaved and fully engaged with all tasks. They experienced a range of eco-friendly activities including; clay oven building, den creation, a night walk, a local farm visit, fire-building demonstrations and an eco-exploration of the site. The centre even linked some of their activities to our WWII topic, informing children about the history of the site which was a Naval communications building during the Second World War. A talk from one of the rangers gave children a chance to explore a wide variety of World War 2 artefacts and dance along to some jive music played on an original gramophone. The second night saw us all huddle around an open camp-fire where teachers were entertained with ‘jokes’, singing and dancing.

Thank you to all of the children for being excellent ambassadors for St Peter’s and for their curiosity and collaboration throughout their visit.

Next Friday during out celebration assembly, Year 5 will get the chance to talk about their experience with the rest of the school.

Photos to follow early next week – after we have caught up on some much needed sleep!

Have a restful weekend!

The Year 5 team.
