This week in Maths, the children have started to consolidate different methods of multiplication and division, including some problem solving. In English, they have finished their plan for a speech to persuade Marvel that their chosen superhero is the greatest ever created and are now writing a draft.
Please continue to work on the spelling lists, using the strategies given. Children should have a list of personal spellings in their home learning diary. Next week we will be looking again at homophones so some revision would be useful preparation.
Reading comprehension homework is due on Monday next week, when another one will be sent home. We are asking children to stay in at break and/or lunch to complete any homework that has not been brought to school, so please remind them to check that it is in their bag on Monday morning. The book review challenge has already produced a lot of responses from Year 5. Please encourage your children to take part and make sure that they read daily. Children should have brought home their Friday Testbase arithmetic tests today. These should provide a good basis for homework.
This week Sofia Machedon (5E) received the golden leaf award for persevering in Maths. Jack Jordan (5E) has his writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Nicolas Renji (5T) received the golden leaf award for his amazing work ethic. Cecelia Crocker (5T) has her writing on the showstopper wall.
Have a relaxing weekend,
The Year 5 team
