Veggie Burgers

This term for our DT project, we have been studying the importance of healthy food choices and how processed food and fast food have many negative impacts on our bodies and the world. We particularly focused on Las Vegas and it’s economy. We found out that Las Vegas is estimated to waste approximately five billion pounds of food each year. This waste primarily ends up in landfills, contributing significantly to the overall waste generated by the city. A lot of this food is fast food chains that use meat.

We as a class decided we wanted to show people healthy “fast food” alternatives to hopefully inspire them to order a meat free option. The children then wanted to make Veggie burgers and their own bread buns. They tasted a variety and designed their own product based on what they enjoyed.

Mrs Moore and some helpful volunteers took the children over to Oaklands and used the kitchen facilities. Here the pupils measured, knead, proved and cooked their bread. hey also chopped, grated, sliced, mashed and cooked their veggie burgers,.

The results were amazing as they show cased their creations in their designed burger boxes.

Keep an eye out for the photos – coming soon!
