Last week Year 5 were visited by Southsea Coastal Scheme to discuss the effects of erosion on our coastline and what is being done in Southsea to combat this. The children were excited to hear all about the different methods of sea defence which are being installed along our beaches and had the opportunity to discuss what made these effective. This lead into our ‘coasts’ topic in Geography and gave children the opportunity to ask a variety of questions to an expert. Children discussed what would happen if sea defences weren’t build and the potential risk of flooding to people who live in Southsea.
