Space music
We are having our music lessons with a teacher from Oaklands. Today in music, we made a rhythm looking at timbre, dynamics and texture.
We learned the words:
Timbre – type of sound
Dynamics – volume
Texture – layers of sound
Duration – length
We also created an out of space sound scape with different instruments. We were playing at different times and we made a pattern of sound fading in and out of the music.

SPACE!!!
THIS WEEK WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING ABOUT SPACE. WE HAVE BEEN USING FRUITS TO REPRESENT THE 8 PLANETS IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM. EXAMPLE; PEPPERCORN , CHERRY TOMATO, WATERMELON, GRAPEFRUIT, APPLE, ORANGE, BLUEBERRY. WE WENT OUTSIDE ON THE NORTH PLAYGROUND AND STOOD DISTANCES FROM EACHOTHER OF A EXAMPLE OF WHAT THEY ARE LIKE IN SPACE. WE HAD TOP TRUMP CARDS TO OUT MORE ABOUT THE 8 PLANETS. FOR OUR SCIENCE LEARNING WE DREW THE PLANETS AND WROTE FACTS ABOUT THEM.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year, Year 5!
We have enjoyed a great and busy and rather wet (swimming and the torrential rain) week back with you! This week in English, we began our new and rather gory Macbeth writing unit. The children loved acting out the characters of Macbeth (particularly acting the part of the three witches)! (See images below)
Reminders for next week:
Tuesday- RE home learning due
Wednesday- 5D swimming
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 5 team
