The Outlaws!

Each Year 5 class had a short workshop today, with an emphasis on the story of Robin Hood. They worked on their mock fighting skills, dance moves and freeze frames of Nottingham news events.

Talking of stories….

Please have a look at the bedtime stories blog. There is a different one uploaded every day, including tomorrow and Sunday. If you’re gripped with the book ‘Moon Busting’, keep watching and listening!

Just a reminder – it’s World Book Day next Thursday (5th March). We look forward to seeing you in your outfits.

Sumdog homework has been set, based on the Measures domain.

Reading passports are due on the 18th March, ready for the big draw. An afternoon at Flip Out is the prize.

Have an enjoyable weekend,

The Year 5 Team

Happy Half Term

Our last week was busy as usual with the curriculum.

Sumdog homework has been set for over the half term and the spelling from last week will continue until the first week of the new half term.

5SC has completed their swimming lessons and made fantastic progress since their first lesson. On our final lesson this week we completed our sponsored swim and have already received money in so a big thank you already. Any further sponsorship money for 5SC is welcome after half term. We will let you know the final total when available.

5E will be starting swimming lessons on Thursday 27th February so please ensure the children have swim hats and goggles as well as the normal swimming attire.5E will also receive sponsorship forms for their final swim session.

Big congratulations go to James Watson, Promise Mndezele and Caitlin Meechan for winning the Performance Poetry competition for Year 5. They will go head to head in the final next half term. All the children that performed were fantastic and showed great resilience in learning their poem. Thank you for your support.

Have a fantastic half term. See you on Monday 24th February.

The Year 5 Team.

STEM day – 5E

The case of the swiftly disappearing cakes…

Today we have had an eventful STEM day, as Mr Cunningham has mentioned in his blog. Photographs will soon follow.

Many thanks this week:

  • Thank you all so very much for the amazing cakes given to us for both our cake sales, which were a superb success. We completely sold out of cakes on Thursday! So far, we have raised a whopping £240 for Two Saints, the homeless charity were are supporting. We still have our sponsored swimming sessions to raise funds from – Year 5SC will be completing their sponsored swim next Thursday during their swimming lesson.

 – A sea of customers!

  • Thank you to all the adults who attended our last Year 5/6 Mass, at school, on Tuesday. Father Daniel was on top form, engaging the children with a song he learnt when he was a child in Nigeria.

Enjoy your weekend, despite the blowy conditions,

The Year 5 Team
