Friday 15th June, 2018

This week in Maths, the children have been learning to multiply fractions by whole numbers. In English, they have enjoyed working on the Scarab’s Secret and studied texts about Ancient Egypt.

Please continue to work on the spelling lists, using the strategies given. We are now nearly at the end of Year 5 so children should be secure with the Year 3/4 list and well on their way with the Year 5/6 list. Children should make sure they know the rules for making nouns plural, especially words ending in ‘y’.

Reading comprehension homework is due on Monday next week, when another one will be sent home. We are asking children to stay in at break and/or lunch to complete any homework that has not been brought to school, so please remind them to check that it is in their bag on Monday morning.

Reminders

  • There is only one more week to complete any book reviews.
  • A letter went home this week about the Year 5 and 6 Mass next Tuesday (19th June). Please could you return your slips by Monday, if you are able to help walk the children to and from church. We need extra adults or we will be unable to attend Mass.

This week Kafui Djokey (5E) received the golden leaf award for showing kindness and caring about other members of the class. Emma Wildman (5E) has her writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Cecilia Crocker (5T) received the golden leaf award for all round effort and achievement and being helpful to other children. Isla Gray (5T) has her writing on the showstopper wall.

Have a super weekend,

The Year 5 team
