Friday 10th November, 2017

This week the children have been ordering and comparing fractions. They have also been converting improper fractions into mixed numbers and vice versa. In English, they have been planning their non-chronological reports about extreme sports and practicing writing a variety of sentences. The children have been writing monologues about experiences of soldiers during the war, in preparation for our Remembrance assembly on Monday.
Please continue to work on the spelling lists sent home, using the strategies given.
Today the children enjoyed an entertaining presentation from the two authors who visited.
Just a reminder: a packed lunch will be needed for the trip to Fort Nelson next Wednesday. School uniform, sensible shoes and a warm coat are required.
A letter has been sent home today about our upcoming Year 5 and 6 Mass. It will take place on Tuesday 21st November; any offers of help to walk the children to and from the church will be gratefully received.
This week Molly Gray (5E) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her for being committed to producing a high standard of work all the time’ and Sigciniwe Dlamini (5E) has his writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Alicia Richards (5T) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her for being a lovely member of the class.’ Josh Hunter (5T) has his work on the showstoppers wall too.
Have an enjoyable weekend,
The Year 5 team
