Week 3 – 23rd June 2017

This week the children have been developing their understanding of multiplying proper fractions by whole numbers and mixed numbers by whole numbers. In English, they have been writing, editing, improving and publishing their persuasive letters (Ancient Egypt theme).

For homework the children have 6 spellings with the ‘au’ sound; Mymaths and they need to complete a section from the homework pyramid. This homework is due by next Friday (30th June). Children are more than welcome to bring their homework in early if they have completed it.

This week Elizabeth Moore (5E) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her for always being a happy, smiley member of the class and having a good sense of humour’ and Onjoro Sumba (5E) has his writing displayed on the showstoppers wall. Wendy Wheatley (5F) received the golden leaf award for ‘using the gifts God gave her to be spiritual in her work.’ Hannah Oliver (5F) has her work on the showstoppers wall too.

Just a reminder, 5F will be going on their trip to Staunton Country Park on Monday. Please can children remember to bring: lunch box, drink bottle, sensible shoes, sensible walking trousers, coat, hat and sun cream.

We look forward to see you at the Sports Day on Tuesday 27th June.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 5 team
