Week 1 – 28th April 2017

This week the children have been developing their knowledge of how to find missing angles in rectangles; and to find missing lengths of shapes using their knowledge of area and perimeter. They have also been developing their understanding of reflection and translation of shapes, including using coordinates. In English, they have been using semi colons, colons and commas in lists. Now they are progressing on to their new topic which involves creating a descriptive piece based on ‘The Wreck of the Zanzibar’.

For homework the children have 6 spellings, Mymaths and they need to complete another section from the homework pyramid. This homework is due by next Friday (5th May). Children are more than welcome to bring their homework in early if they have completed it.

Unfortunately, due to Year 6 practice SATs, golden leaf was cancelled this week. From this term, we will be handing out the class prayer bags to the person who showed a commitment to the school mission statement. The prayer bag will be handed out on a Thursday and needs to be back in school by the following Tuesday so that we can use the prayers, written at home, in our class worship.

Have a delightful weekend and enjoy the bank holiday Monday,

The Year 5 team
