Welcome to Our New Class Pets: Stick Insects!

This week, Year 4 have some very special visitors… stick insects!
They have come to stay with us while we learn all about living things and their life cycles in Science.

At first glance, our new class pets look just like twigs, but if you look carefully you’ll spot them moving, climbing and munching on fresh leaves. Stick insects are amazing examples of living things because they grow, change, need food and water, and respond to their environment.

Over the next few weeks, we will be learning about the life cycle of a stick insect, from tiny eggs to nymphs and then into fully grown adults. We will be observing them closely, recording changes, asking scientific questions and learning how to care for living creatures responsibly.

We are all very excited to become Stick Insect Scientists and can’t wait to share our observations, drawings and discoveries with you. Keep checking our blog to see what we learn as our stick insects grow!
