Go go gadgets!

We are pleased to announce that all 64 spy trainees passed their extensive training on Friday!
The newly qualified spies now need to make a gadget to assist Alex Rider on his important missions.
The Brief:
During a top secret mission, Alex Rider has lost all of his essential gadgets! He needs a new gadget that will assist him in his job as a spy.
In class we have evaluated different gadgets and discussed important features. We have also designed the gadget and thought about features, materials and how we will join them together.
You homework is to make your gadget and be ready to persuade Alex that your gadget will suit his needs in a Dragon’s Den style event!
Your homework is due in on Weds 17th December. Any questions, please see your class teacher.

Children also have spellings to learn and practise in their learning diaries. Try to use these words in a sentence to show you know the meaning.

Year 6 Assembly!

Well done on a fabulous year group assembly today!

It was great to see you all using your 5 C’s to put together the assembly as well as demonstrating to the school and parents how we used them during our stay.

We had great feedback from the teachers and pupils at school today and I’m sure you have had the same from your parents when you arrived home today.

We all learnt so much at Stubbington and had lots of fun in the process!

Bikeability and Black History Homework

Penguin class really enjoyed taking part in a course of Bikeability, despite the frequent showers! Well done Penguins!
Thank you to all the pupils who produced excellent homework on Black History. We had some fantastic powerpoints, fact files and leaflets.
We are all looking forward to our Junior Citizen event tomorrow at Fort Purbrook. Year 6 have also been busy practising our assembly for Friday, phew what a busy week!

Stubbington 2014!

The children are really looking forward to Stubbington. There will be a final letter going home on Tuesday with a kit list and a chance to order the famous Stubbington puppets and sweatshirts. What are you looking forward to most?!

Our 5C’s afternoon

On our first Friday of the new term, we had an afternoon filled with our learning behaviours.

The challenge was set for the children to work in a group, planning and making a container for an egg. The egg was to be dropped at height and the container was to be designed to withstand the fall, protecting the egg from cracking.

The afternoon was great fun and the children learnt how we can use the 5 C’s in our everyday learning. 4 egg containers were sturdy enough to withstand the drop and protect the egg.

Here are some photo’s from the egg dropping.

What did you think of Chessington?

So Year 6…How was your day at Chessington World of Adventures? What was the best ride? Did you conquer any fears whilst you were there?

Chessington World of Adventures

The trip to Chessington is nearly upon us. Here are a few reminders about the trip:

The coach will be leaving the school on Tuesday at 8.00am.  Therefore, we need all the children to be in school by 7.40am. Mr Peplow and I will meet the children on the south playground. If you are helping out on this trip, please arrive at the same time.

The children will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink with them.  Please note that if your child is entitled to a free school dinner, the school will provide a packed lunch for them that day. The school should have been informed if this is required.

The children do not have to wear school uniform; however we ask that they come suitably dressed for a theme park with clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.  Please make sure that you check the forecast beforehand.  If the sun is shining, please ensure your child has sun cream on and a hat if possible.  The children will need to be wearing comfortable footwear as it is a long day and they will be doing lots of walking.  The children will be allowed spending money (maximum £10); however this must be kept in a purse/wallet and will be the responsibility of the children that day.  The children should not bring any eletronic equipment such as Ipad, Iphones etc.

We hope to arrive back at school by 7.00pm at the latest and ask that you collect your child from the North playground.  If we are running late for any reason then we will call the school as soon as possible. A message will be put up on the whiteboard to inform the parents.

We hope that this will be a fantastic day, celebrating all the achievements of the children in Year 6.

See you Tuesday at 7:40am. Early to bed on Monday! 🙂

Year Six Production

What a fantastic week of performances! Mr Peplow and I have been so impressed with all of the year 6 children in the rehearsals leading up to the performance. Within days, the children had lremembered all of their lines and were thinking about props, set and costume designs. All of the children’s hard work really paid off this week.  We have had a fantastic week showing our play to the school and all of the children’s parents, family members and friends.

A special thank you for all of the help given to the children in the run up to the play with organising costumes and learning lines.  The children all looked the part in their costumes.

We hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! Until the next time….
