Pilgrims of Hope and Jubilee Year

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all well and that you have kept cool during the recent heatwave!

Pilgrims of Hope, Charisms and Catholic Social Teaching:

This term, we have been very busy and fortunate at St. Peters, partaking in numerous Liturgical events and being inspired by one another as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ this Jubilee Year. Together, we have worked hard to show our ‘faith in action’ as we commit ourselves to our school Jubilee Pledge – to carry out Pope Francis’ vision by using our gifts and Charisms to ‘make our world a better place’, through living out our school Mission Statement as Pilgrims of Hope. Please see the image below of our Pledge poster, presented at our recent Annual Schools Mass…

Spiritual Leaders at St. Peter’s, 2024-25:

As part of our efforts, we have been proud this year to continue to support our children in discovering and exploring their own gifts and Charisms, as they take on special roles and responsibilites as school Spiritual Leaders – this includes various groups of pupils, including those who are part of our school choir, CST ambassadors, GIFT chaplains, prayer leaders, Worship Evaluation Team and CAFOD Young Leaders. Along with our whole school community, these pupils have worked incredibly hard to apply the values of Oscar Romero to sing the messages of the Gospel, organise charity events and promote their faith to build God’s church. Please see below for a gallery of images…

Stewardship projects and charity work at St. Peter’s:

As part of our Stewardship focus, we have worked very hard throughout St. Peter’s in each Key Stage, to ensure that we prioritise those in need and supporting the poorest in our local, national and global communities. Through our charisms and gifts God gave us, we have enjoyed serving God’s people through fundraising events and raising awareness for important causes as part of our curriculum areas. Please see below for an outline of our stewardship projects, charity work and fundraising events that have taken place in each year group, across 2024-2025.

Please see below for examples from Y1 (Shoebox Appeal), the CAFOD Club (World Gifts bake sale) and Y5 (swimming competition for Rowans Hospice). Well done everyone!

I would like to close today’s blog post with a prayer. Jesus calls us to spread His word to others and so we pray together:

We pray for the Church: that it may follow Jesus’ example and share His Good News while welcoming all people.

Lord in your mercy…

We pray for world leaders: that they may work more closely together to meet the needs of all their people.

Lord in your mercy…

We pray for our parish, family and friends: that we may look for God in all people that we meet and treat them as we would wish to be treated.

Lord in your mercy…

In this Jubilee Year, we pray that we may be signs of hope in our world through all that we do and how we treat one another.

Lord in your mercy…

Christ our Messiah, You call us to follow You. Help us to be welcoming to others and to spend time listening to and following Your word.

Amen.

I wish you all a pleasant and safe summer break, with moments of calm and opportunities for peaceful reflection and prayer.

With very best wishes,

Miss Honeywell
