These sisters have been busy this afternoon with the Fun with Foil activity. Aurora (yr 4) has made a monkey swinging on a bar and Raffaella has made a token with the letter R – and painted in glitter glue!

“Titanic” in tin foil by Luke Williams (Class 2F)

“Desert island and treasure chest”  in tin foil by Faith Williams (Class 6L)

Now you can see Luke and Faith’s creations together…I wonder if any jewellery from the Titanic ended up in that treasure chest?

Aimee Best has created a superb slide out of foil, which is great.

Sofia Smy has made a person out of tin foil, I think it is fabulous and she has got the proportions of the body just right!

Islwyn linked this fabulous foil creation to his year 6 writing task of a ‘busy place’  and re-created his H0018 cub camp. The campsite is complete with a campfire, tents and a yurt!

Mostyn  made this amazing piece of jewellery out of foil  and linked it to his to his Year 3 Roman topic and made a ‘Bulla’ Roman  necklace.   Thank you to these brothers for taking a great deal of time to create these masterpieces.

Wow!  What wonderful creations from Alana and Amelia Do’urden.  These foil Medallions are fantastic. Alana’s has her initials and a heart, while Amelia drew an A and some hearts.  They look so lovely – well done girls.

Look at this ‘Eggscellent’ Easter basket that Monique has made out of foil – it is absolutely fantastic.  I may ‘magpie’ this idea myself and make foil Easter baskets for my family.  Thanks for the fab idea Monique!

Oh my goodness…. these three brothers have been busy.  Check out these wonderful foil creations:

George has made a brilliant foil running trophy… it looks like they are running a relay and passing the baton.

Henry has made a badge with his initial ‘H’ on it and has also made a foil fight scene, with a referee to make sure things don’t get too out of hand!

William  has made a foil Roman soldier and coloured it in so carefully.

Thank you so much boys for sharing your creations with us….a truly talented trio!!

This is another fabulous foil creation by Faith.  This time she has made a fantastic pendant with her initial ‘F’ on it…   I wonder if she found it in the treasure chest she made earlier in the week?

Look at this amazing octopus created by Joe (Year 6).  It looks so cute and I really love  the way you have made the legs 3D.   I like the background too…it looks like you used water colours for that.  Thanks for sharing.

This is a fantastic candle and candle holder made by Jacob (Year 6).  His whole family have done foil art this week… sorry to their mum if she has no foil left for cooking!

The Art Gallery week beginning 23/03/20

Look at the fabulous pictures created by Sophie (Year 4).  The leaves on the tree were made by Sophie putting blobs of paint on her branches and using a dry brush to spread out, that’s a great technique and very effective.  The other two were made using pastels.

Thank you for sharing these Sophie, I’m looking forward to seeing more from you and other art work from the children at St Peter’s.

A wonderful and  colourful creation by Seren (Year 6)

Fantastic art work by Ava and Daniel Dawson

Benji (Year 5) has done an incredible drawing of Carl Fredricksen  from the film Up!  Amazing work Benji.

Look at this huge, amazing dice made by Alana  Do’urden, with each face is a different colour and pattern. The family then used the dice to play Pig and made up a couple of their own garden games too. How wonderful, I bet it was lots of fun… and the sun was shining too!

This is a brilliant beach scene created by Monique using pastels and stencils.  I love the way she has blended the colours.  Thank you for sharing this Monique.

William has tried his hand at needle felting for the first time and I’m sure you will agree that this chick is so cute.  Well done William.

Look at these fabulous creations by Nell – I would love to turn the picture on the left into wallpaper and I think the 3D flowers are amazing.  Thanks for sharing Nell.

This talented family have been learning the new skill of Macrame.  Their mum has been teaching them and as you can see from the results she has done a great job showing them what to do.  Well done to you all!

I love these clever pictures from Benji (Year 5) I had to look really closely to see that it was the same picture just opened up – what a great idea! I may ‘magpie’ this idea for school!

Josh and Oliver created this picture that they did together of the Pokemon,  Charizard. It looks like they have put a lot of time and effort into colouring it in so carefully.  Fantastic effort  boys and a stunning result!
Oliver then went on to draw and colour these fabulous dinosaurs. .. they are both fantastic and it’s hard for me to choose a favourite.  Thank you for sharing these with us.
Oh my goodness!  Sofia has been so creative this week!  Today she has been working on the castle for her topic at school and it is coming along very nicely.  It’s lovely to see her being creative while enjoying the glorious weather.  Let’s hope Sofia sends us more photos so we can admire her progress.
It was Monique’s birthday yesterday and although Sihanua  couldn’t see her,  she didn’t want her friend to miss out so made her a card and sent it to me to post on here.  What a very thoughtful and kind gesture and when Monique eventually gets the card I know she will treasure it.
This stunning sunset has been created by Fern(Year 5).  I love the way she has blended the colours and that you can see the light and shade.  Fantastic work Fern!
Wow!  Look at this stunning stained glass window created by Cian (Year 4). He has done all the painting himself, but his Mum did help with the lead/tape.  His idea of doing this  lead glass window was he felt that when people walked pass the house they would see it and know that God was watching over us all while everybody has to stay indoors to stay safe.
What a fabulous window Cian, I can see you have put a great deal of time and effort into this project and the result is fantastic!
Mason (Year 1) has created his very own ‘Spring Vision’, which is amazing.  Love the way he has used natural materials to make this fantastic picture.  It really makes me feel like the beauty of spring is all around us.

Home Learning – Fun with Foil

Hello and welcome to the first Home Learning Art Blog.

Over the coming weeks there will be an opportunity for you to participate in a range of Art activities. These can be done individually, with older or younger siblings, or indeed as a whole family.  Please do email me a picture of your creations and I will upload it onto the Art Blog, so that the whole of the St Peter’s community can admire your creativity.

To get you started over the next few days, I challenge you to have ‘Fun with Foil’.  See what you can create using this accessible and versatile material. Pictures using string and tin foil, people. animals,  fish,  trees or jewellery are just a few ideas,  but I’m sure you will impress me with your inventiveness! Pintrest is always a good place to look.

In addition to this, if you do anything else  ‘Arty’ at home please send me a photo of that as well so that I can share that on the Art Blog too.

Have fun and keep safe and well.

To make a Sharpie tinfoil pendant: (Great Mother’s Day gift!)

1) Cut a small circle from an old cereal box.

2) Cut a slightly bigger circle from tin foil.

3) Draw a simple design on the cardboard, cover the outline of the design with glue and string, and set it aside to dry.

4) Cover the dull side of the tin foil with a glue stick, wrap the tin foil around the cardboard containing the design, and secure the tinfoil with a piece of tape on the backside of the pendant.

5) Rub the tinfoil on the front of the pendant with a piece of felt or old cloth to help the string design show through.

6) Colour the design with Sharpies, and allow to dry.

7) Punch a hole in the top of the pendant, and string or a chain.

Tin foil people – there are a range of videos on You tube to help you make the basic person – Years 4 and 5 have done this with me.

I can’t wait to see what you create!

Year One – Teddy Bears

It was the turn of Turtle class to learn about how teddy bears got their name and to the draw them, choosing whether to use pencil, chalk or a combination of them both.

They are all so cute that I can’t choose a favourite….can you?

Year 4 Creation Circles

For their Art lesson this week, Year 4 focused on the Creation story and thought of a ‘creative’ way to show it through art.  The made Creation circles with each segment depicting a different day of creation.

I love the way the children used different ways to tell the same story.
