Oh my goodness…this Pop Art picture by Olivia is absolutely awesome!  This is what her mum wrote… ‘Olivia decided to colour in multiple astronauts that she printed off, and selected bright colours to make it pop art. Olivia also enjoyed adapting an autographed NASA astronauts photo that he dad had and putting filters on the photo’s in powerpoint to try and create a pop art look.’ How fabulous Olivia that you have really thought about this project and then created this ‘work of art.  Very well done and thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Amazing Alien Alert! Emma has created a totally epic alien picture inspired by Andy Warhol and I think she has done a first rate job.  I love her choice of colours, the patterns she has used and how each alien is unique.  I think this looks like Andy Warhol could have made this himself!  Thanks for sharing this Emma.

Wow! Mostyn has created this terrific tin foil person in action poses.  Great work Mostyn!

The children who were in school made their tin foil people too! They did drawings first and then made their tin foil person and put it in an action pose.  As an extension activity, they stuck their person on their book (using blue-tac) and drew their shadow. 

I think they all look fantastic!

Introducing Bob!…The fantastic tin foil person created by Ben.  As you can see, one of Bob’s interests is Lego and I think he has a real talent for it, just as Ben has a talent for creating sculptures out of tin foil! Thanks for sharing this with us Ben.

Wow!  What a great start to our art project…. Tin Foil people.  As you can see, Hope has put in a great deal of effort into creating her tin foil person.

This is what her mum said “Hope posed her model and followed the YouTube tutorial but wasn’t happy with her model so we talked about how we could make it better and made a few minor adjustments…..

…..Hope then re positioned it and added hair but still wasn’t happy so made a new one. This one is with hair and a tutu!”

What a wonderful pose Hope and congratulations for persevering – I think they look fantastic.  Thank you so much for sharing these terrific tin foil action people with us, I’m sure you will inspire others to have a go!

Well, here we are with another Lockdown.  I am so excited because once again I am going to be receiving lots of your fabulous art, as well as hearing your news!

I will be setting Year Group Art activities, during your usual Art PPA session. They will be sent to your teachers who will explain them to you.  However, any questions and queries  you may have  please email me directly, as your class teacher will be dealing with lots of other things.

I will be keeping a list of the children that produce art for the Blog and there will be prizes and cerificates awarded to those who consistently send work to brighten up the Blog.  I will also have an artist of the week in each Year Group.

We have had a very busy start to our art lessons and  we wanted to share with you what each Year group have been up to: 

Reception Class

During the month of October, the children learnt about Mary, the mother of Jesus.  They then looked at a portatrait of Mary and drew a portrait of their mummy.  Their artwork is displayed in the hall to commemorate October being the month of Mary.

Year One 

Year One have been learning about their favourite colour and also about the primary colours – red, yellow and blue.  They learnt about  the artist Piet Mondrian and created their own piece of art based on his work.  While creating their masterpieces they also listened to ‘Boogie woogie’ music. Their magnificent artwork is displayed in the hall.

The children then learnt about the season of Autumn and about the changes in nature that we see during this beautiful, colourful season.  They then created an animal using leaves that had been collect around the school grounds.

Year 2

The children have beening learning about portraits and why they were so important in the past.  They also explored different mark making techniques, which will be useful when they come to draw their own self portraits later this term.

Mrs Porter then asked if the children would help create a display for the Library.  She wanted the children to create a firework display, linked to the book ‘The firework maker’s daughter.  The children made 2D and 3D fireworks using 2D and 3D shapes.

Year 3

We have been learing about Indian art.  The children learnt about the Indian festival of Hastimangala before creating the own 3D elephant.  

Trinty and Alfin’s elephants made it onto Mr Cunninghams WOW Work board – congratulations!

They then learnt about the importance of henna tattooing in the Indian culture and made their own henna designs for feet and hands.

Year 4

The children have been jewllery designers this term and created a dazzling array of jewllery using a variety of media from clay to paper plates!  They even made their own necklaces using paper beads that they carefully constructed. 

Year 5

We have been learning about Street Art and giving some very vocal opinions about it.  We discussed if it is always ugly and illegal or if there are times when it can be thought provoking and even enhance areas.  The children practsed different stylised writing, using letters and  colours which were eye catching.

Year  6

We have been focusing on Chinese Art this term and have looked at different brush strokes to ensure  we produce clean lines, as this has important significance in Chinese art.  We learnt about the ‘Four Gentlemen’ of Chinese art and had a go at creating our own artwork based on this these techniques.

Then we attempted Chinese calligraphy.  We learnt that this can take years to master, but as you can see Year 6 did really well with their first go!

Christmas  Designs

There has been an air of Christmas around the school during the past two weeks.  All the children have been very busy,  creating a Christmas design that can be turned in to cards, key rings, fridge magnet, gift tags and even wrapping paper!  I have seen the products and they are of an extremly high quaility.

The children all worked extremely hard and we even played Christmas music to get us into the festive spirit, even if, alas, there was no singing.  Now that the children have done their part it’s now over to you! 

If you would like to order any of the aforementioned items then please fill out the form on the back of your child’s deisgn. Kindly note the following:

• Please ensure that you fill in your child’s name, exactly as you would like it to appear on the design.
• Please can you put an X in the box to indicate the top of the design. I did do some, but time constraints meant I didn’t do them all, so if you could just double check then that would be fab – thanks.
• You may see on the form that it says Does not work well: anything stuck to the paper….. I phoned and spoke to IQ cards before starting the cards, just to clarify and they are referring to cotton wool, googly eyes, glitter etc and NOT piece of card and paper.  I just wated to clear that up incase you read that and thought your child’s fabulous design may be ‘rejected’ at the printing stage!  I hope that puts your minds at rest.

Remember that ALL orders have to be received by FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER and your child’s design MUST be returned to their class teacher.  

A huge thanks to the Friends of St Peter’s for organising this event, as the funds raised benefit all our children at St Peter’s.

In other exciting news……

One design will be chosen for our school Christmas card and one design will be chosen, by Father Jeremy, to be sold at Sacred Heart Church.  

Wow! Wow! Wow!  This spectacular deer that Rosie (Year 1) has created really is a ‘work of art’! Ash you can see, she had to make it in stages and be really patience, but her hard work paid off because the end result is outstanding! Brilliant work Rosie and thank you so much for sharing this with us…and of course Father Jeremy!

Nell has diligently painted these stones, for Father Jeremy, which include a few of his favourite things! I think they looks fabulous…don’t you? Fantastic Nell – thanks for sharing!

Look at this astonishing portrait of Father Jeremy that Islwyn (Year 6) has drawn. It is clear that he has made a careful study of Father Jeremy’s features and included a lot of detail in his drawing.  Bravo Islwyn and thanks for sharing!

Following in the footsteps of his brother, Mostyn (Year 3) has drawn a superb portrait of Father Jeremy too! I think it looks just like him, especially that wonderful smile.  Great work Mostyn and thanks for sharing.

Wow!  I am super impressed with this stone portrait of Father Jeremy…it looks just like him!  The artist behind this creation is Calin (Year 4) and he has done a a terrific job.  Well done Calin and thanks for sharing….please keep hold of it…I know  Father Jeremy will love it!

Wow! What a wonderful pop-up card that Alana has created to pay tribute to Father Jeremy and his 45 years as a priest.  The time and effort that she has put into making this has paid off because it looks fabulous! Bravo Alana and thank you for sharing this with us…and Father Jeremy!

Knowing that Father Jeremy enjoys nature, Ben (Year 3) decided to paint a trio of nature pictures.  The first is a scene from Madagascar with mango trees and a volcano! The second is a sea scene with lots of hammerheads, stingray and lion fish ……

…Finally , there is this painting of  Father Jeremy’s  church with a cow outside as you may find in the countryside.  What a fitting tribute for Father Jeremy, Ben.  Thank you for sharing these with us.

Goodness me!  Look at this wonderful plaque that Riya (Year 4) has created for Father Jeremy. She a clearly put in a great deal of time and effort to create this stunning masterpiece.  Very well done Riya and thanks for sharing!

What a truly delightful painting by Fern (Year 5), which celebrates Father Jeremy’s 45 Years as a priest… I especially like the words ’45 Years of changing lives’  Brilliant work Fern and thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Wow!  What a remarkable collage that pays tribute to Father Jeremy…I think it is simply stunning!  This is what their mum wrote: “We wanted to do something special to celebrate Father Jeremy’s anniversary. Although Kian wasn’t here when we created it, he has read a lot for Father in the past and it wouldn’t seem right not including him in this. Dillon did the 4, I did the 5 and Conor researched for photos, printed, stuck on and touched up the poster. So, again, a team effort. “ Here, here to that! This creative family always make such an effort for these art challenges.  Thank you so much for sharing this with us….and Father Jeremy.

We have had another busy week in Reception, doing lots of arts and crafts.

These children were learning about colour mixing.  They mixed the primary colours of red, yellow and blue to make the secondary colours, orange, green and purple.  they then had great fun mixing ALL the primary colours to make BROWN

These children have been exploring engineering by making household items, such as hoovers and hammers to practise their DIY skills!

We decided to give this bald man some funky new hairstyles using natural things we found on the school field.  Which new hair-do is your favourite?

Hello! What another funny week with weather… I attempted to have a BBQ on Sunday, but spent a lot of time chasing around the garden retrieving the furniture! I’ve had a busy week, working in school with Reception children.  As you have seen on the Blog, they have been learning about SPACE…which they have really enjoyed. I am still exploring the local area and this week I have been on walks along the shoreline at Portchester, the Billy Line and Clanfield.

Art Challenge For Father Jeremy:

Father Jeremy has got a very special celebration coming up on 26^th July this year. He will be celebrating 45 years since his ordination into the priesthood.  I think this is a remarkable achievement and should be marked by your incredible artwork. Therefore, your Art challenge for the next fortnight is to produce a piece of art for Father Jeremy.  This can take any form you like from street art, a drawing, a decorated stone, a portrait, collage or even some edible art! As well as being a priest, Father Jeremy has a wide range of interests including walking, reading and nature.  So let you creative juices flow and come up with something spectacular….I know you will!

As I have mentioned, this is a two week challenge and I would ask that, as well as me displaying your art on the Blog, would you please keep hold of it (yes even sculptures you may make), so that I can collect it from you, when we are all back in school and put it in a book and then present it to Father Jeremy.

As always, you can still send any other art work to me and I will post that on the Blog too.

Well, not only does this pirate ship and treasure chest picture look amazing. but it actually moves!  The ships sails across the ocean to reach the treasure.  The artist is Islwyn (Year 6), who is a regular contributor to the Art Blog and this is another stunning piece of art. Brilliant work Islwyn and thank you for sharing this with us.

Wow! What an amazing aeroplane that Calin (Year 4) has drawn.  He has really taken him time and added lots of detail.  Top job Calin and thanks for sharing!

Wow!  What a totally amazing boat that Phoebe (Year 3) has made.  I love the sea colours that she has chosen to decorate it with.  Bravo Phoebe and thank you for sharing this with us!

Every week these brothers do the Art Challenge and each week they blow me away with their creativity.  This week they decide to use LEGO and create vehicles that go on land, sea and in the sky.  Here is Kian (Year 6) with a brilliant boat, which he has carefully made with lots of added features….

Next is this amazing hot air balloon by Conor (Year 4), complete with the basket to carry the passengers….

Last and by no means least is Dillon (Year 1) who has made this terrific truck, with wonderful wheels and windows.  Well done boys and thank you so much for always rising to the Art challenges!

Oh my goodness!  This aeroplane by Aaron (Year 5) is just spectacular. It has been so well drawn and painted  – I love it! Fantastic work Aaron and thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Goodness me Eva (Year 5)  never fails to amaze me with her amazing artwork and as you can see, she has done it again with these fantastic drawings of a bus and car. What a talented artist – thanks for sharing Eva!

Wow! Another outstanding piece of artwork by Emma (Year 4).  This week she has created this amazing 3D car.  I think it looks truly spectacular….I would like a car just like this! Thank you so much for sharing this with us Emma. Both sisters were ‘helped’ by Honey their cute cockatiel.  I think these photos  with Honey perched on their heads are just brilliant…it looks like a hat that I would wear to Ascot!

Sabrina (Year 5) has done a splendid job creating this spectacular home on Minecraft.  Well done Sabrina and thanks for sharing!

What an absolutely amazing travelling circus that Emi (Year 4) has created.  I know it took her a great deal of effort, but I’m so glad she persevered because the end result is astounding! Fantastic work Emi and thank you for sharing this with us.

I’m so impressed with this brilliant bicycle that Humphrey (Year 1) has drawn. He has really taken his time and added a lot of detail.  Well done Humphrey and thanks for sharing!

Goodness me!  Look at this incredible vehicle that Riya (Year 4) has made entirely out of Lego.  She must have a great deal of patience to make such a spectacular mini-bus, complete with lights…I LOVE IT!  Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is an edible ‘work of art’!  I am writing this before eating my dinner and my mouth is watering and my tummy is rumbling! Olivia (Year 4) has made this spectacular London bus cake and it looks totally awesome! This is what her mum wrote: ” We used lots of different sweets to decorate the bus including – Smarties for headlights, chocolate buttons for people, Oreo cookies for the wheels, White milky bar for the windows and cola laces. We had a lot of fun creating this and lots of left over sweets to eat 😀
Now we need to try the cake ”   What a talented baker…I’m sure we may see Olivia on Great British Bake Off in the future!  I’m just disappointed that I can’t sample this delicious looking cake!  Thank you so much for sharing this with us Olivia!

This fantastic bus has been drawn by Brayden (Year 4). What a wonderful job he has done and I particularly like the way he has carefully added the wheels and doors.  Bravo Brayden and thanks for sharing.

This is splendid! Mostyn (Year 3) has done every Art challenge and completed them to a high standard and this one is no exception. He decided to make a moving picture with a pirate theme! The pirate boat sails across the ocean! What an inspiring idea Mostyn – I’m sure this will encourage others to have a go.  Thank you for sharing this with us.

Goodness me!  Look at another creation by the amazing Alana (Year 4).  This time she has gone all out and created this brilliant London bus, complete with wheels and windows. Just imagine all the sights you could see travelling around London on a bus like this.  Spectacular work, as always, Alana – thanks for sharing!

This bicycle is simply stunning! Emily (Year 5) has done an amazing job of making and constructing this bike.  As you can see, she has taken a great deal of time and patience to make and the assemble each part of the bike.  I also love the colours that she has chosen for her background.  Bravo Emily and thanks for sharing!

Wow! William (Year 3) has done a truly spectacular job in drawing of his favourite car, an AUDI R8.  As you can see, he has put a lot of detail into it and it is one of my favourite colours for a car.  Wonderful work William…thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Oh my goodness!  This surfer’s van, complete with a surfboard on the roof, is amazing. It is clear that George (Year 3) has spent a long time creating it as it looks sensational!  Brilliant work George and thanks for sharing!

We started our space topic this week by getting creative and making a night sky, that we will add to during the topic.  As you can see, we had great fun using silver and gold paint and GLITTER to make the sky at night!

We put our night sky on our Learning Journey board and added  space themed crafts that we made during discovery time.

There are rockets made from 3D shapes, such as cylinders and cones.

We made 5 little men in fantastic flying saucers, using pipe cleaners and tin foil.

We listen to a story about how colours can show our emotion and then we made our own ‘Emotion Aliens’. The Yellow alien shows happiness, while the pink alien shows love.  Thankfully no one made a blue Alien which shows sadness.
