Year 4 The forest….above and below
Above and Below by Patricia Hegarty and illustrated by Hanako Clulow is the inspiration for this art project.
This informative book talks about what lives above and below in many different ecosystems. I decided to focus on the illustration of the forest. I love how you can see the deep, calm forest above and the burrowing creatures below.
This is what the children produced in school, in just under an hour. Wow! I cannot tell you how proud I am with how hard every single child work…and the fantastic results speak for themselves!

This is what their mummy wrote, ‘Maisie and Megan had a great afternoon having a go at recreating some artwork from Ashley Bryan. They drew the blackbirds themselves and then drew around a plate to make the sun. They then cut out strips of coloured card for the finishing effect! I hope you like them!’ Well girls, I don’t just like them I LOVE them. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

Celebration of the Artists this Half term
I would like to thank everyone for contributing to our Art Blog and spreading the love and joy that art can bring, not only to the creators, but to the observers. I have had so many compliments about the standard and variety of art that the children of St Peter’s produce, week after week. However, it is down to each and every child who has sent their art work to me and to the families for their encouragement – so well done to you all.
Below are the Artist of the week for each Art activity that I have set. The children love being chosen for this in school, so I see no reason why those children not in school at the moment should not be recognised too. It goes without saying that I have loved and appreciated every single piece of art that I have been sent.
