What a lovely week we have had in Reception! The children have continued to settle beautifully and are becoming increasingly confident with our routines, making new friends and exploring all the exciting learning opportunities in the classroom. Tiredness is kicking in for some children. We will continue to support them as they leave their caregiver in the morning but a short sweet goodbye is often the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

📚 Literacy
This week, we have enjoyed the story \u2018Owl Babies\u2019. The children have taken part in lots of activities linked to the story, including talking about the characters and their feelings, retelling parts of the story and exploring new vocabulary. We have also enjoyed joining in with the story and developing our understanding through play and different creative activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🔢 Maths
In maths, we have been learning about sets and practising identifying a set of objects. We have also been sorting objects into different groups according to their type and talking about how we know which objects belong together. We have started to learn how to subitise numbers 1 and 2 \u2013 recognising these small quantities quickly without needing to count each object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been a fantastic week of learning, exploring and having fun together. We are very proud of how well the children are settling into life in Reception and look forward to another exciting week ahead!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
