What a wonderful first full-time week we have had in Reception! The children have settled in really well and we are so proud of them. They are beginning to make new friends, build relationships with the adults around them and, importantly, are getting to know the routines of our school day. It has been lovely to see their confidence growing throughout the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, we have enjoyed exploring the story The Colour Monster. We have talked about the different feelings represented by each colour and discussed how we might feel at different times. The children have been encouraged to talk about their emotions and think about things we can do to help ourselves feel green \u2013 calm and settled or yellow \u2013 happy and excited. We will continue to develop our understanding of feelings and how we can look after ourselves and each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Maths, we have been learning about sorting and matching. The children have enjoyed finding objects that are the same and sorting objects into different groups. We have been encouraging them to explain why they have grouped objects together and to use mathematical language when talking about what they notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In RE, we have started to explore the Creation Story and think about the wonderful world around us. We went on a walk around our school grounds to identify and talk about some of the things that God has given us. The children enjoyed looking carefully at nature and noticing the different things around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
