Perhaps plan some family time away from the TV or games consoles!<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Phonics<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Smillie\u2019s Phonics Group<\/strong> \u2013 Find base words that end in \u2018y\u2019 e.g. happy, carry, worry \u2013 can you change the suffix (ending) to create new words e.g. carry \u2013 carried and think about the spelling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Hele\u2019s\/ Mrs Wickes\u2019 Phonics Group<\/strong>&#8211; Find words with the \/ew\/ sound spelt \u2018ue\u2019, \u2018oo\u2019 and \u2018u_e\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Stinton\u2019s Phonics Group<\/strong>&#8211; Practice spelling the tricky words: mouse, once, because, please and work.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Maths<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>During our mental maths today, a lot of children still struggled to \u2018find the difference\u2019 between two numbers. Please practice finding the difference between numbers like 11 and 4 or 5 and 13. You can put the smaller number in your head and then count on using your fingers to the larger number.
