We’ve been outside exploring capacity using our water trays. We have been practising using the language ‘full’, ‘half full’, ’empty’ as well as exploring concepts such as whether tall, thin containers hold more or less liquid than shorter, wider containers. We’ve been using our estimation skills to consider how many spoonfuls of liquid can be held by larger containers and then testing this out. We’ve had a great time!

In English, we’ve come up with some wonderful sentences to describe the exciting scene from ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ where determined Tortoise trundles past the snoozing Hare. We’ve joined our ideas together with conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘but’ and we’ve made sure that all of our sentences are in the present tense by using the suffix -ing. We’re very proud of the work the children have produced.

In Worship and RE this week, we’ve been enjoying watching our Year 6 children take part in the Stations of the Cross via video. We’ve been listening to and thinking about the journey that Jesus took this week, being Holy Week.

We wish you all a well-deserved, sunny, happy, restful, joyous Easter – full of chocolate!

The Year One Team.

This week in Year One, we have been making the most of the lovely weather!
